| | | Founded in 2001, the Hornbill Press grew out of a desire to bring to light books which strike our fancy and which - had they not seen print (or been reprinted) - might have dropped off the collective radar screen. Hornbill Press books are not only rich in content, they are well-made and affordable.
The bird in the logo is the African Red-billed Hornbill, one of twenty-five hornbill species in Africa. Hornbills pair for life and nest in holes in trees, where the female seals herself in to give birth, leaving only a tiny slit through which the male passes food. Anyone who has heard their haunting call in the forest will not soon forget it.
